Posted

An unidentified man smashed through the front door of the Long Island Power Authority building in Bellmore on Monday at 5:15 p.m., according to Nassau County police officials. At press time, the man had not been found. Police are investigating.

Authorities said the man came to the front door and told LIPA employees that his home was still without power because of the storm, and he wished to speak with someone. LIPA employees told him that the building was closed for the day. When the man became visibly agitated, the employees told him that he should call LIPA's emergency number.

When the employees returned to their business inside the building, they heard a loud bang and saw the front door's glass falling as the man walked off to a vehicle and drove off.
