Merrick Library Celebrating the New Year, a few hours early

The Merrick Library held their annual Noon Year’s Eve party this past Sunday, Dec. 31.

Often hosted by libraries or community centers, Noon Year’s Eve is a family-friendly event that is organized for families with children who have a hard time staying up until midnight for a traditional New Year’s Eve celebration. The goal is to help these children experience the excitement of a New Year’s countdown, while also accommodating to their bedtime.

Instead of counting down to midnight, the party has a countdown until noon to help capture a similar experience. There was a variety of games and crafts for the kids to participate in, as well as lively music throughout the party.

The concept aligns with the broader trend of creating family-friendly and inclusive events that cater to a wide range of age groups. Noon Year’s Eve parties have gained popularity as a fun and accessible way for families to celebrate together without the challenges of late-night activities for young children.
