N. Merrick Library offering homebound service

Posted

The North Merrick Public Library is introducing a homebound service that allows delivery of library materials to patrons who are unable to travel to the library because of medical conditions.

To qualify for the door-to-door pickup and delivery service, applicants must live within the North Merrick School District and hold a North Merrick Public Library card.

In addition, an application form must be completed and submitted to the office of library Director Tom Witt, along with a doctor’s note stating that the applicant cannot physically visit the library owing to illness, surgery or long-term disability.

“The Board of Trustees strongly believes that every North Merrick patron should have access to library materials,” said Witt. “No one should have to miss out on enjoying the benefits of the library because of a medical condition.”

Patrons interested in the service can check with the reference department about program guidelines, or view and print an application form by accessing the library’s website at www.northmerrickpubliclibrary.org.

For more information, contact the library’s reference department at (516) 378-7474 ext. 18.
