North Merrick stationery store robbed

Te-Amo, a stationery and gift card store on Merrick Avenue in North Merrick, was robbed last Wednesday, according to police.

Police say that a white male, who remains unknown, entered the store at about 10:20 a.m., and asked the store clerk for a pack of cigarettes. When the clerk, 45, went to retrieve the cigarettes, the suspect went around the counter, displayed a stun gun and demanded money.

The clerk surrendered an unknown amount of money, police say, and the robber ran off north on Merrick Avenue and then east on Old Mill Road. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as unshaven with dark hair, and wearing a black knit hat, black jacket, blue jeans, gloves and black sunglasses.
