There are a handful of school days that kids mark off on their calendars at the beginning of the year, but none may be more anticipated and popular than Field Day.
Last Friday, Sacred Heart Elementary School in North Merrick held its annual day of fun for all grades at Kennedy Park in Hempstead.
Field Day is a tradition in schools across the world that promotes friendly competition among students. Children are divided into teams, and compete against one another in various events like the three-legged race, tug-of-war and Hula-Hooping. Field Day promotes exercise, teamwork and friendship.
