Sweet, sweet music at N. Merrick Library

The North Merrick Library recently pumped up the volume, hosting the fourth annual Merricks Make Music Outdoor Summer Concert.

The concert comprised four groups, including the North Merrick Elementary School District jazz band, featuring 52 students under the direction of Peggy Rakas and Andrew Brunson.

The Word of Mouth choir, a highly selective middle school vocal ensemble, performed a capella and was directed by Dana Brandwein.

And the Calhoun-Mepham chamber orchestra, an advanced string group, performed under the baton of Christopher Sutherland, and the Calhoun jazz band, comprising students in grades nine to 12, performed under the direction of Ed Tumminell.
