Tree slams into contractors' truck

Three members of a family contracting company missed certain death or serious injury by seconds Monday morning when they were traveling south on Meadowbrook Road near Gormley Avenue in Merrick. Gusty winds knocked over a giant tree across Meadowbrook Road. They were able to stop just short of the main cab of the truck being crush. The truck sustained a broken windshield. Town of Hempstead workers cleared the road. Above, Al Nicholini, who was driving, Steve Nicholini and Steve Nicholini Jr. by their broken truck.
