Where is the All Lives Matter editorial?

To the Editor:

Your editorial last week told us why black lives matter (“On Black Lives Matter, let’s opine less, listen more.”)

It gave me a sick feeling. Why didn’t you tell us to understand why all lives matter? Will you have an editorial next week about the Democratic National Convention on July 28, when a speaker asked for a moment of silence for the police officers who have been murdered, and delegates shouted back “Black Lives Matter”?

Global warming isn’t a threat

To the Editor:

While I was reading the letter to the editor, “Reducing our carbon footprint” (July 28-Aug. 3), I realized that it failed to look at the history of past climate and weather patterns. Many global warming alarmist fail to understand that everything we see today has happened in the past, often with more extreme ramifications.
In her letter, Heather Liebowitz writes about temperatures soaring past 90 degrees. In the summer of 1966 temperatures topped 100 degrees, as people fried eggs on city sidewalks. What ever happen to the hole in the ozone layer? Remember when everyone thought that the sky was falling?
The earth’s temperature has fluctuated for thousands of years — it heats up and it cools down. With that said, we should all strive for cleaner air and water, but we should not become fearmongers and scream that the sky is falling. On July 22, Secretary of State John Kerry said that pollutants emanating from household appliances present a potentially greater threat than global terrorism. This kind of thinking will surely end mankind. It’s not global warming that will end this world but rather Islamic extremists.
We should be more concerned with the Iran nuclear deal and the weaknesses of our leaders than about 90 degree temperatures in July. Bad decisions will end this world long before our air conditioners and the threat of global warming will.
