Roller hockey players ages 30 and up wanted for weekend games

Calling all old-timers!

A group of 30-and-older roller hockey players are calling on fellow geezers to join them for some light-competition pick-up games at the Town of Hempstead’s Oceanside Park on Sunday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m.

The group is looking to host fun games for those players who have outgrown leagues generally dominated by speedy 20-year-olds, hence the call for players ages 30 and older. Proper equipment is urged in the interest of minimizing injuries.

With many roller hockey rinks being owned by villages, playing time is often limited or restricted to players in leagues. The Town of Hempstead, however, allows public use of town rinks at no charge.

The hockey rink is located in Oceanside Park (3800 Mahlon Brower Drive in Oceanside). If you’re interested in joining the group for Sunday morning hockey, please call/text Mike at (516) 491-0114 or email him at mrusso68@gmail.com.
