Oceanside High School Marching Band kicked up the brass at the Newsday Marching Band Festival at Hofstra University on Oct. 16.

Valley Stream, Oceanside and Elmont high school students rallied in full force at this year’s Marching Band Festival at Hofstra University on Oct. 15, 16 and 17.

Oceanside High School Marching Band performed a selection of songs featured in the theatre production of “Riverdance.”

Valley Stream North High School Spartans brought down the house with their performance entitled “2013 Spartans Rock the Night Away,” while Valley Stream Central High School amped up the crowd with their rendition of some disco hits in “Sounds Like the 70’s.” Valley Stream South High School also played a few songs from another 1970s classic, “Grease.”

H. Frank Carey High School Dance Band shook things up in their performance while Elmont Memorial Senior High School rocked out with a medley of Green Day songs off the band’s album “21st Century Breakdown” and Sewanhaka High School performed a selection of songs by composer Danny Elfman.
