Cops arrest man for Oceanside bank robbery

Police reported the arrest of a Massapequa man on Aug. 6 in connection with a series of bank robberies that occurred in Nassau County, including one in Oceanside.

According to detectives Michael Acciarito, of Weaver Drive, Massapequa, entered the Wachovia Bank located at 3584 Long Beach Road and produced a note which he gave to the teller demanding cash and indicating he had a gun. Acciarito allegedly fled on foot with an undetermined amount of currency.

Acciarito was arrested at the Nassau County probation office at 400 County Seat Drive in Mineola after he reported for a scheduled visit. After further investigation police found that he was connected to five additional robberies in Massapequa, Oceanside and East Meadow.

Acciarito will be arraigned on August 7 in first district court in Hempstead and is charged with five counts of robbery and one count of attempted

robbery.
