DOCA Parade in Oceanside

Posted

Oceanside’s ghosts and goblins were on display at the annual Department of Community Affairs’ costume parade. Participants marched around the School #6 track, and filled the Merle Avenue gym for a fall festival. There were arts and crafts, games, music and dancing as well as the all-important holiday treats. The parade and festival wrapped up a week of Halloween events, including window painting at Oceanside High School, sponsored by Kiwanis, and a fall creations evening that highlighted artful pumpkin carving.

The Department of Community Affairs, part of the Oceanside School District, organizes community events, classes and lectures in addition to summer recreation programs and after-school activities.

Oceanside Kiwanis, part of an international organization that serves children and communities, partnered with the district to provide a variety of events for both adults and youth. The activities allow the youth of Oceanside to enjoy all the fun of Halloween in a safe environment.
