DOGust the first is coming!

North Shore Animal League America to host annual canine birthday party

Posted

Happy Birthday doggies! Pet lovers at North Shore Animal League America have declared the first day of August as DOGust the 1st –- a universal birthday for shelter and rescued dogs everywhere.

Oftentimes the actual birth dates of many rescued dogs are unknown. Once adopted, pet owners are known to select a random date to celebrate their dog’s birthday, such as a significant occasion, a family member’s birthday, or the date on which they adopted their pet. Now, pet owners can truly designate a celebratory canine holiday.

This year, the Animal League is celebrating DOGust the 1st weekend in August. The festivities start on Saturday, July 31 from 1 to 4 p.m. with  birthday cake, refreshments, a bouncer maze and a dunk tank. Both days will include free adoptions for dogs one year and older, along with raffles and prizes.

North Shore Animal League is located in Port Washington at 25 Davis Avenue.
