Joanne Borgella, who competed on season seven of "American Idol" in 2008, stopped by in Mineola to congratulate East Meadow's Girl Scout Troop No. 1108 on April 1.
The cadets donated a truck full of goods to Haiti, where Borgella lived until she was five years old.
Borgella was among Idol's top 12 females and was in the top 24 overall. Before Idol, she competed on Mo’Nique’s F.A.T. Chance reality show in 2005 and won the crown.
Borgella, 27, of Oyster Bay Cove, now lives in Manhattan and is a model. A music album and reality show are in the works.
She caught up with a Herald reporter to answer a few questions on camera, including her thoughts on American Idol, season nine.
