Fog/Mist Island Park veterans give back on Memorial Day

Memorial Day is usually a time of giving thanks to veterans in the community. And while Island Park still celebrated its veterans with the village's annual Memorial Day parade, the veterans also gave back to the community.
The American Legion of Island Park Post 1029 owned the small island in the middle of Long Beach Road that housed the village's Veterans Memorial. On May 28, after the parade, the American Legion officially transferred ownership of the property — and the memorial — to the village.
