As a licensed physical therapist, Margaret Haller has had a diverse background since graduating from Stony Brook University in 1983, and earning her Advanced Master’s Degree in Motor Learning from Long Island University in 1987.

After years of holding positions at Long Island Jewish and Brookdale Hospitals, numerous rehabilitation centers and early intervention preschools, she has now opened a her own fully equipped physical therapy facility in Rockville Centre.

Treating one patient at a time, Haller provides physical therapy for both adults and children. Her goal is to allow her patients to return to functionality, pain free, as quickly as possible. Her personalized sessions, whether for post surgical rehabilitation or for an injury or a chronic condition, teach the patient a routine that can ultimately be continued at home.

Having served as PTA president in the Rockville School District, where her daughters attended, she is cognizant that sports related injures among the young athletes are on the rise. Most injuries occur between the ages of 11 and 18, and are the result of repetitive motion or overuse.

Using a thorough evaluation process, she can determine whether the injury may have an underlying biomechanical cause. Correcting the cause can prevent reoccurrence, which could eventually turn into a chronic issue. Haller’s 27 years of treating pediatric sports related injuries has allowed her to send many young athletes back into competition, pain free.

Another offering at the Margaret Haller, MSPT, P.C. facility is Cold Laser Therapy. FDA approved in 2002, this is also known as Low Level Light Therapy. Cold laser devices are non-invasive.

The device is placed on the injured area, where it emits wavelengths of light that deeply penetrate the soft tissue, reducing inflammation, pain and swelling while accelerating tissue repair.

Significant benefits have been seen in treating tendonitis, tennis and golf elbow, osteoarthritis, rotor cuff tears, muscle and ligament sprains, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, knee and back issues, and other painful conditions.

Haller also works with seniors who, as they get older, become at great risk of falling. As a physical therapist, she can help reduce this risk. Much of her work with the elderly has been on a volunteer basis. She has lectured on osteoporosis, and has given free balance classes at the Sandals Senior Citizen Center. She also holds free osteoporosis groups at her facility, and gives balance exercise classes at local senior housing developments.

Margaret Haller, MSPT, P.C. accepts most insurance plans and Medicare.
