NY Rising moves deadline again

Hurricane Sandy victims who are working with New York Rising and trying to get their home-elevation plans submitted by June 12 can take heart: The program has extended the deadline.

The deadline for the submission of design documents for applicants who opted to elevate their homes has been extended as follows: the elevation precertification must be submitted to New York Rising by Sept 30, and all other required design documents — including stamped plans, a permit or permit application and a 6100 form, if applicable — must be submitted by
Dec. 31.

On June 8, emails were sent to all applicants who opted to elevate prior to June 1, informing them of the new deadlines. Those who opt for elevation after June 1 will have four months (120 days) to submit the pre-certification and seven months (210 days) to submit the remaining design documents. Applicants should consult the revised versions of the following documents, which spell out in detail the program requirements of optional elevation and can be found at http://stormrecovery.ny.gov/housing-forms-and-resources:

- After Opting-In

- Home Elevation Design Guidance

- Design Criteria for Structural Elevation

Other deadlines related to the optional-measures program have not changed. The deadline for the submission of design documents for applicants who opted for bulkhead or optional mitigation work is either Sept. 1 or 180 days after the date the applicant opted in, whichever is later.

Applicants have 60 days from the time they are offered the opportunity to opt in to submit their opt-in form.
