The Third Annual Jeremy Feder Baseball Tournament took place this past weekend, kicking off on Sept. 21 at Wrights Field, benefitting America’s VetDogs, a non-profit dedicated to providing free service dogs to veterans and first responders.

About 150 people attended the opening night ceremonies, and donations are still coming in, but as of press time on Sept. 24, nearly $6,000 was raised.

Fourteen-year-old Feder created the tournament three years ago, and in that time close to $18,000 total has been raised for the Smithtown-based America’s VetDogs.

been raised for Smithtown-based America’s VetDogs. Student volunteers assisted at opening night festivities, as well as friends and family.

“Playing baseball is always great, but playing for an important cause like

helping our veterans makes it just perfect,” Feder said. “Thank you to all the teams and their coaches, our corporate sponsors, businesses who gave merchandise and gift cards for raffle baskets, Oceanside Little League and

the support of the Oceanside School District and our local legislators.”

The winning team from the weekend’s tournament was the 12U South Shore

Sharks, who won 4-2 in the Sunday championship game against the Valley Stream Hawks.
