“My Women of Distinction Ceremony is meant to honor the accomplishments of eight women, who through their hard work, commitment, and determination, have made the communities of Lynbrook, Malverne, East Rockaway, Rockville Centre, Oceanside, Baldwin and South Hempstead a better place to live and raise a family,” said Assemblyman Brian Curran. “Each of these ladies has earned the recognition as a Woman of Distinction.”

One woman honored was Cathy Dapolito, from Oceanside. Cathy has been a resident of Oceanside for more than 15 years and has been extremely involved in her community. She is the youngest president of the Oceanside Kiwanis Club, a Deputy of the Nassau County Anti-Bias Crime Task Force and the chair of the Youth and Education Committee. As the mom of a special needs child, her true passion and main source of joy is working with disabled children. Cathy volunteers her time as a special needs advocate attending school district meetings with parents who are looking for guidance. She has also worked with the Diocese of Rockville Centre to create a special needs religious education program. It goes without say that Cathy’s dedication to these organizations and her community is truly beyond measure.

“I am extremely proud of these eight ladies, particularly Cathy Dapolito, who were recognized and I am truly grateful that they reside in the community of the 14th Assembly District that I represent,” Curran said.
