O’side Church sending comfort

Oceanside Lutheran Church, blessed the 134 quilts the Lutheran World Relief Team created this year on May 10. Beginning as a war effort in 1946, the team has been making quilts, personal care/school/baby care kits to send around the world.

Quilts are shipped to areas torn apart by war and natural disaster close to home and abroad. Already 9,240 Quilts and 1000 Personal Care Kits have been shipped to Nepal and more will follow.

When you make and send a Quilt, you are not only comforting someone you have never met, but also providing an object that is useful in ways you probably never imagined. It can be: a baby carrier, tied around a mother’s back; a market display, spread on the ground and piled with vegetables; a sack for transporting those goods to market; a sunshade; a shawl; and most importantly a constant reminder that someone, far away, cares a lot.
