Queens man made purchase at Kohl’s with fraudulent credit card

A Queens man was arrested last week at Kohl's, 3600 Long Beach Road in Oceanside, for attempted larceny and identity theft.

According to police, Michael Williams, 31, of 142nd Place in Jamaica, Queens, along with two others not yet arrested, purchased 10 Best Buy gift cards totally $500 at Kohl's by presenting himself as the owner of the credit card used for the purchase. It was later discovered that the credit card account belonged to a victim in Virginia who did not authorize the purchase.

A short time later, detectives stopped Williams near Grand Avenue and the Southern State Parkway, where he was placed under arrest.

Williams was charged with possession of a forged instrument, unlawful possession of personal ID, petit larceny and identity theft. He was arraigned in First

District Court in Hempstead on Aug. 26.
