Sandy homes on the auction block

A second group of Hurricane Sandy damaged homes is going to be auctioned by Paramount realty in November, three of them in Oceanside, 15 in Island Park.

Last April Paramount auctioned off 155 homes, this time 150 go on the auction block island wide, 81 in Nassau and 74 in Suffolk. Paramount gets a flat fee of $300,000 for all the marketing expenses for the auctions from the Governor’s Office of Storm recovery, and a percentage of each sale.

In all the Housing Trust Fund Corporation purchased 1,200 damaged homes, 500 were to be demolished and left as open space. Those were located mostly in Suffolk. The remaining were to be sold and eventually brought up to FEMA flood compliance by the buyers.

This auction is set for Nov.17 at the Hyatt Regency in Hauppauge. Open houses for the properties will be from Oct. 13to Oct. 22. More information is available at prusa.com.
