Summer unofficially ended last week when students in Oceanside and Island Park picked up their backpacks once again — and for some, for the first time — and headed to school.
Classes in Oceanside began on Sept. 4, as soon as the Labor Day holiday was over. Students in Island Park got one extra day of summer vacation and returned to classes on Sept. 5.
