21st Assembly District endorsement — Curran

Posted

Republican Brian Curran served the 14th Assembly District capably in his first term, and is running for a second term in the newly redistricted 21st District.

He is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the goings-on in his district, and is always ready with statistics and opinions on a variety of topics related to its fiscal state. And, having served as mayor of Lynbrook for two terms, he is well aware of how government works, down to the most local level.

Curran is proud of the strides the state has made in the past two years — passing the tax cap, eliminating the MTA payroll tax, increasing school district funding and cutting the state budget to reduce the size of government.

His challenger, Jeffrey Friedman of Rockville Centre, is a community activist and has spent time in Albany working to help pass legislation. He says that Long Island needs a stronger voice there, and we believe he should continue to be a watchdog for our area and at the state level. Nevertheless, we believe that Curran should continue the good work he has done in Albany, and the Herald enthusiastically endorses him.
