5th grade girls take Cure of Ars tournament

The St. Agnes Girls 5th grade CYO Basketball team coached by Mike Boranian and Gene Peck were champions of the inaugural Cure of Ars Christmas tournament held on Dec. 26 and 27. The girls defeated St. Martin of Tours from Amityville in the semi-finals and then won a hard fought, close final against St. Anne’s’ of Garden City. Bridget Considine, Emily Boranian and Grace Feiner led the team’s offensive charge in both games. Hannah Peck and Taylor Kassl provided much needed rebounding while Taylor Nunziato and Kate Carrigan provided great hustle and a strong defensive presence. The girls’ regular CYO season resumes this month as they hope to continue their winning ways and build on their tournament success. The team thanks all those who have come to support them all season and thanks St. Agnes CYO for the opportunity to compete in the tournament.
