The Rockville Centre Basketball League began its 59th season late last month, with Mayor Francis X. Murray performing the first tip-off at Riverside Elementary School.

This season’s registration has exceed all previous years. The RVCBL now has more than 123 teams and 1,240 players from grades 3 through 12.

Since its inception in 1955, the goal of the RVCBL has been to provide youth with a competitive recreational basketball league where every player is guaranteed to play at least one half of every game. The players are encouraged to practice and play hard, but never lose sight of the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, learning and fun.
