Sunday Science: Growing a garden

Be ready to get your hands dirty! Explore the science of seeds, trees and flowers by exploring the plants of the forest and planting in the garden at the Center for Science Teaching and Learning on June 26 from 2 to 4 p.m. The cost is $14 per child ages 4 to 12. One adult per child.

Yoga on the Green

Summer reading kickoff

Join the library for a special kick-off with guest Carol Fitzgerald, president of the “The Book Report Network,” a group of six websites about books and authors on June 28 at 7 p.m. She will discuss the must-read books of the summer and inside information on upcoming titles and their authors. Carol is a lively and enthusiastic advocate for books, authors, and libraries.

You’ll be feeling the beat when the Plaza Theatrical Productions’ stages “All Shook Up,” the jukebox musical tribute to Elvis Presley. Town Park Point Lookout is the scene for some summertime tunes, as the Town of Hempstead celebrates Independence Day with its annual festivities, beginning with a salute to veterans, Saturday, at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a tribute to Abba and the Bee Gees with Abbamania and Night Fever, followed by fireworks.
