Starting on Dec. 2, Leggz Ltd. Dance and the Rockville Centre Guild for the Arts present the “Nutcracker,” the only full-length production of the Tchaikovsky classic on Long Island with a live 70-piece orchestra — not just any orchestra, but Rockville Centre’s very own South Shore Symphony.

The principal dancers in this production are from the Boston Ballet, Washington Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, the Joffrey Ballet, Suzanne Farrell, Mark Morris, New York City Opera, Atlanta Ballet, Alvin Ailey, San Francisco Ballet, Carolina Ballet, Morphoses, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Broadway’s “Movin’ Out” and Jerome Robbins Broadway.

This “Nutcracker” also features more than 100 young dancers from the greater metropolitan area, and in an annual tradition, several prominent Rockville Centre officials will also make appearances. Set to make their debut performances are Mayor Fran Murray who will play Grandfather, Deputy Mayor Nancy Howard who will take to the stage as Grandmother and Trustee Michael Sepe, who will be Uncle.

This wonderful holiday classic will be performed on Friday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 4 at 4 p.m. Tickets for the Nutcracker are $24 and $22 for over 65/under 12. Performances take place at South Side High School, 140 Shepherd Street.
