A real sock hop

During the last week of November, members of the American Legion Post 303 Women’s Auxiliary donated 14 cases of men’s socks and underwear to four grateful Long Island organizations that service veterans. With some of what they collected are, from left, Trisha Raymond, Pat Edick, Pam Travers, Pat Southard and Mary Ann Rispoli.

Recipients of the collection include residents of the Northport Veterans Hospital, the Salvation Army Northport Veterans Residence, the Long Island State Veterans Nursing Home in Stony Brook and the Homeless Veterans Stand Down at the Freeport Armory.

The donations were made possible by the generosity of the Jockey Underwear Company and the Gold Toe Socks organization, with the assistance of a local Rockville Centre family who put the Auxiliary in touch with those businesses. Officers of the Auxiliary said they are very grateful for their help.
