A third Paul Durnan enrolls at St. Agnes Cathedral School

Posted

Paul E. Durnan Jr. was joined by his father, Paul E. Durnan Sr. and his grandfather, Paul H. Durnan on his first day of kindergarten at St. Agnes Cathedral School. He is the third of his namesake to attend the school — his grandfather Paul H. entered it in 1947, and his father started in 1981.

“It is an especially awesome feeling for me to be here today on his first day at St. Agnes,” said Paul Jr.’s grandfather, Paul H. “I’m sure that Sister Kathy Carlin, Miss Helen Newman and all the wonderful teachers here will do a great job teaching young Paul as they did with all of our seven children who attended St. Agnes Cathedral School in years past.”

Paul E. Sr. remembers his first few days going to the school. “I wasn’t very cooperative in getting out of my mother’s station wagon,” he recalled. “I just didn’t want to go to school. Sister Kathy (still the principal today) had to carry me into the classroom to get me there every day for the first week

or so!”

Paul E. Jr. enjoyed his first day there and said he’s looking forward to next year, when his younger brother, Jack, joins him at

St. Agnes.
