Air Quality Advisory and Closures

Posted

The Department of Environmental Conservation and Department of Health has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for Long Island through Thursday, June 8, at 11:59 p.m.

Due to the poor air quality caused by the wildfires in Canada, several community events have been canceled.  Locals are advised to limit their time outdoors if possible, close windows and doors, use fans to circulate airflow indoors, curb the use of gas grills indoors, and avoid smoking.

Poor air quality can be hazardous and can aggravate those with health problems. Those with compromised immune systems are especially at risk.
