On Jan. 4, Brian Curran, of Lynbrook, was joined by family and friends in Hearing Room B in the Legislative Office Building in Mineola as he took his oath of office as the 14th district’s new state Assemblyman. Acting Supreme Court Justice Craig J. Doran administered the oath.

“It is an honor and a privilege to be sworn in as a New York State Legislator,” Curran said. “I take this responsibility very seriously, because many Long Island families are in dire straits. Tax increases must be stopped and New Yorkers need a property tax cap now.”

Curran was elected as Lynbrook’s mayor in 2007 and moved on to the Assembly after winning the election this past November. He ran for the seat after longtime Assemblyman Bob Barra chose not to run again.

“I am ready and eager to advocate on behalf of all of the residents of the 14th Assembly District,” Curran said. “It will be a long and tough road ahead, but serious changes need to be made to ensure a prosperous future for all New Yorkers,” said Curran.
