Chamber hosts successful Food and Wine Festival

tre Food and Wine Festival, on Front Street, was a tasty hit last Saturday. The Chamber of Commerce hosted the event, which provided more than 1,400 residents the opportunity to sample village restaurants’ best offerings and village stores’ finest products.

The festival also kicked off Rockville Centre Restaurant Weeks, which run until Sept. 25. For two weeks, many local eateries have prix fixe menus with two- or three-course offerings for $15, $25, $35 or all three, giving customers the chance to sample a variety of new dishes.

New to this year’s Food and Wine Festival were outdoor games, including a bean bag toss and Jenga Giant — a larger version of the popular block game.

Chris Guzzo planned the event with his company, Making MemorEase. Prudential Borrowing, Making Memor-Ease, Better Home Health and Village Liquor were the sponsors, and more than 30 restaurants, vendors and stores took part. They included Parlay Gastropub, Flagship Brewery, Flying Belgium Brewery, Panera Bread, Vulcano, Bonefish Grill, Viaggio Tapas, Mesita, Cabo, Tony Colombo’s, Salsa Mexicana, Chadwick’s, MacArthur Park Restaurant, Kasey’s, Parmagianni, the Flour Shoppe, Lucky Finds, Turn of the Corkscrew Books and Wine, Village Liquor and Lakeland Winery as well as Sen. Todd Kaminsky, Newsday and NEFCU.

A portion of the proceeds will go to the Rockville Centre Lions Club.
