On Aug. 22 at 9:35 a.m., a resident of Reeve Road reported to police that between Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. and the next morning at 6, someone stole a kayak from her side yard.

At 4:05 p.m. on Aug. 23, a 36-year-old woman told police that between 3 and 3:15 p.m. on Aug. 20, someone stole her pocketbook containing a cell phone, personal identification and credit cards that she had momentarily left unattended inside Panera Bread, 313 Merrick Road.

On Aug 23 at 11:55 p.m., two 16-year-old female teenagers told police that five minutes earlier an unidentified male youth, approximately 17-20 years old, wearing a light colored tank top, approached them as they were walking near 111 N. Oceanside Road, and attempted to steal their cell phones. He then fled the scene in a black car that sped off toward Sunrise Highway.
