A drive-by moving up ceremony was held at South Side Middle School on June 16 to celebrate all of the eighth-graders who will be heading to high school in the fall. Principal Shelagh McGinn, along with administrators, teachers and staff members, held signs to congratulate the students as they drove by the school and handed out T-shirts while wishing them well on the future. A ceremony was also recorded and is posted on the school’s website. McGinn recognized students individually and teachers shared messages.
“Trust in your ability to overcome obstacles and be successful,” McGinn said. “You are filled with resilience you don’t even know you have and a sense of purpose we know you will fulfill.
“I miss you and all of your shenanigans,” McGinn added. “I believe in you and can’t wait to hear all of the good that you are destined to do.”
