A plan is in the works to expand Rockville Centre’s Hampton Inn, meaning that it could soon be easier to get a room in the village.

The proposal, which was scheduled to be discussed by the Board of Zoning Appeals at a meeting on May 21, after the Herald went to press, is for a four-story addition to the hotel, at 125 Merrick Road, which would add 38 more rooms, bringing the hotel’s total to 121.

Its manager, Christina Vilez, said she wasn’t sure when construction would begin, but she added that the hotel would remain open when it did.

The company applied to the BZA to obtain all of the permits needed to begin construction. Hampton Inn is also applying for a parking variance. The hotel plan provides for 97 off-street parking spots, but village code requires 137.
