The South Shore Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Music Director Scott Jackson Wiley, will be performing at Molloy College’s Madison Theatre on Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. The program features Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring, Saint Saens Piano Concerto no. 2 in G Op. 22 featuring Pianist Jeffrey Biegel and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4.

Biegel is one of today’s most respected artists, having created a multi-faceted career as a pianist, recording artist, composer and arranger.  His electrifying technique and mesmerizing touch has received critical acclaim worldwide. In 1985, Leonard Bernstein said of pianist Jeffrey Biegel: “He played fantastic Liszt.  He is a splendid musician and a brilliant performer.”

Biegel studied at the Juilliard School with the legendary artist/teacher Adele Marcus and made his New York orchestral debut performing Prokofiev’s Concerto no. 2 in g minor with the Juilliard Philharmonia in Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall. He is currently on the piano faculty at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College, a City University of New York (CUNY).

The 65-member South Shore Symphony Orchestra, celebrating its 27th season in 2011, is an associate of the Rockville Centre Guild for the Arts.
