Jewelers donate tie clips to RVCPD

Concord Jewelers gave the Rockville Centre Police a token of appreciation.

When Jim Carty, president of the Rockville Centre Police Benevolent Association, went to Concord Jewelers to pick up 100 tie clips, he was told that he did not have to pay – they were a donation to the police.

There were 75 gold ties and 25 silver tie clips – all together worth $1,000. The clips each have a PBA logo.

“It’s good news for a while,” said Carty. “In the climate of the media, and the politicians, and all these different anti-police movements, it was nice to have someone think nicely of the PBA.”

In 2004, Rockville Centre police officers acted quickly during a robbery at Concord Jewelers, catching six of the would-be robbers as they tried to run.

Concord Jewelers owner Tony Mostowfi said that as a long time resident and business owner in the village, he really appreciates the work of the police. “I’m here 30 years,” he said. “I know almost all of them… They work very hard. They’re very dedicated. Every one of them from top to bottom.”
