The North Park Avenue construction project is finally complete, just in time for the holiday season.

The construction started in May as part of the Village of Rockville Centre’s plans to upgrade the community’s water mains. The project was supposed to be complete by the start of the school year, but delays pushed back the finish date.

The area in-between College Place and Grand Avenue was completed in mid-November, while the northern section between Grand and Hillside Avenues were finished days later. The area between Sunrise Highway and the Rockville Centre train station was finally completed on Dec. 3.

“My administration is committed to upgrading our infrastructure for the long term,”said Mayor Francis X. Murray. “The plan that I have set forth includes rebuilding our entire downtown, not only for the benefit of our residents and merchants today, but also for those who will follow,”

The project frustrated many store owners who endured declining customers and profits. But Murray was praised for his support during the construction phase.
