Arrests

Gregory McTootle, 51 of Rockville Centre was arrested on Aug. 25 at 6:40 p.m. in Clinton Township, N.J. Police say they found McTootle with three ounces of cocaine, one ounce of marijuana and a scale. As a result, police charged him with criminal possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Juan Matute-Castro, 34, of Spruce Street, Hempstead was arrested on Aug. 27 at 7:30 a.m. and was charged with being the subject of a federal warrant charing him with failure to appear for deportation. Police say they arrested Matute-Castro after they stopped him on S. Marion Place for having defective brake lights, and subsequently found he was the subject of an outstanding warrant.

Haron H. Hargrave, 25, of Rosedale and David O. Bucknor, 25, of Springfield Gardens were arrested on Aug. 28 at 6:36 p.m. and charged with petit larceny. Police say they were arrested after being found with stolen shirts valued at $426.87 from the House of Style, 270 Merrick Road. According to police, they were called by a salesperson in the store who reported that the defendants had secreted tee shirts, left the store without paying for them and then fled east on Merrick Road in a vehicle. Hargrave and Bucknor were stopped in Lynbrook by Rockville Centre Anti-Crime personnel who recovered the stolen merchandise. Bucknor was also charged with possession of a forged instrument, a felony, when police say they found him with a forged $100 bill following his arrest.

Kenneth Foti, 35, of Whitestone was arrested at 4:08 a.m. on Aug. 30 and charged with driving while impaired and a vehicle traffic law violation after police saw him driving on N. Park Avenue.

Attempted burglary

On Aug. 29 a Seaman Avenue resident reported that he discovered a rear window screen had been damaged by somebody in an apparent attempt to gain entry.

Computer trespass

On Aug. 25 at 11:30 a.m., the owner of Village Auto Center, 128 N. Village Ave. told police that he had become aware that someone was remotely accessing his business computer files without his knowledge or permission.
