People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.

Arrests

Michael A. Gallerson, 41, of Queens, was arrested on Feb. 12 near a Sunrise Highway hotel and charged with robbery and criminal possession of a weapon following an investigation of a disturbance reported by hotel security.

Burglaries

On Feb. 13 at 9:06 p.m. police responded to a burglar alarm at a S. Marion Place home and discovered that the front doors were open. Police determined that the front door had been force open and the alarm speaker wires had been damaged by whoever broke in. Police say the residence had been entered but the homeowner was unavailable and it was unknown if anything was missing.

At 9:20 p.m. on Feb. 13, a S. Centre Avenue resident told police that he discovered his front door ajar and the door frame damaged by someone who stole jewelry, a lap top computer and $50 in change.

Larcenies

On Feb. 9, a Hargale Court resident told police that someone used her personal identity to secure credit lines and make unauthorized purchases.

A Lenox Road resident reported to police on Feb. 9 that someone stole a snow blower valued at $1,000 from the garage of the

building.

On Feb. 10, a resident of Cedar Avenue told police that he left his wallet unattended at the counter of a N. Village Avenue pharmacy and someone took it without his permission. Police were able to obtain store videotape of the incident.

On Feb. 13 a resident of Weir Street, Hempstead told police that $1,450 was taken without permission from the center console of her vehicle that had been left at 700 Sunrise Highway for service.

A Union Avenue, Lynbrook resident told police on Feb. 14 that her pocketbook was taken without permission after her boyfriend’s vehicle was delivered to the valet parking attendant at a Lincoln Avenue restaurant.

Criminal mischief

On Feb. 8 a resident of N. Forest Avenue reported to police that the rear tailgate of his box truck was painted while it was parked at a parking lot on N. Long Road between Feb. 5 and Feb. 8.

Assault investigations

At 2:15 a.m. on Feb. 12, a man from Nieman Avenue, Lynbrook told police that he was punched and kicked in the face by an acquaintance when they were in Municipal Parking Field 1 on Sunrise Highway. Police said the victim suffered a cut lip and a dislodged tooth as a result of the incident.

On Feb. 13 a 23-year-old man from Wantagh was struck by a dark colored car driven by an unknown male following what police say was a fight with four to five men outside a Merrick Road bar. The car reportedly left the scene by driving north on N. Village Avenue at a high rate of speed. The victim was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital for leg, shoulder and rib injuries.
