Arrest

A 64-year-old resident of Sunnyside was arrested on July 9 at 8:06 p.m. and charged with obstructing governmental administration and peddling without a license after police said they saw her selling glow necklaces and other toys near S. Park Avenue during the Rockville Centre anniversary fireworks celebration.

Larcenies

On July 5 the manager of the CVS at 155 Sunrise Highway told police that someone stole $926.30 in gum packs and $79.73 in breath mints between 10:48 a.m. and 10:54 a.m.

A visitor from Syosset reported to police on July 6 that someone stole her wallet containing a driver license and credit cards from her purse sometime between July 5 at 7 p.m. and the next morning at 2:30 a.m. while she was in Mercy Medical Center’s Emergency Room.

On July 7 a woman from Cambria Heights reported that between May 31 and July 7, someone stole credit cards from her pocketbook while she was working at Shiel Medical Laboratory, 371 Merrick Road.

A Hempstead Avenue resident told police on July 7 that someone stole a 2010 Nishiki woman’s bicycle, valued at $500, from an unsecured open garage.

On July 8 a Morris Avenue resident reported to police that someone entered her vehicle and removed $5 while it was parked in her driveway overnight.

A Strathmore Lane resident told police on July 8 that someone broke into his 2011 Buick while it was parked overnight and stole a GPS device.

On July 9 at 10:30 a.m. a N. Forest Avenue building owner reported the theft of two guard rails that he had stored behind his building.

On July 11 at 2:50 a.m., a Merrick Road resident reported the larceny of his 2006 Jaguar from a parking lot adjacent to his apartment building.

Graffiti

On July 5 a Strathmore Lane resident reported that someone had placed graffiti with a magic marker on property near Strathmore and California Street.

The next day graffiti was discovered on a light pole in the vicinity of S. Village and Lincoln avenues.

On July 9 at 1:45 p.m., a Maple Avenue building manager reported that someone had spray painted letters on the side of the building.

ID theft

On July 4 a Windsor Avenue resident reported that someone made unauthorized purchases on her Mastercard debit card totaling $1,237.49 between July 1 and July 3.

A resident of Westminster Road told police on July 8 at 11:45 a.m. that someone opened up two credit card accounts in his name.

A resident of San Diego reported to police on July 8 at 1:30 p.m. that his elderly mother, who lives on Maine Avenue, received two checks, possibly as part of a scam.

Property damage

On July 5, a resident of Lakeview Avenue told police that someone damaged the trunk of his 2004 Subaru at approximately 1:30 a.m. while it was parked in Municipal Parking Field 1.

People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.
