Rockville Centre Crime Watch Sept. 22, 2011

People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.

Arrests

On Sept. 3, a Rockville Centre man was arrested in Sayville and charged with DWI.

A 64-year-old Far Rockaway woman was arrested on Sept. 8 and charged with petit larceny after an investigation by police at Home Goods at 150 N. Village Ave.

A 55-year-old Rockville Centre man was arrested on Sept. 9 and charged with assault, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and criminal trespass after a police investigation on Clinton Avenue that resulted in the injury of two officers. One officer sustained a hand injury and the second sustained a knee injury.

An 18-year-old Rockville Centre youth was arrested on Sept. 11 and charged with criminal sale of marijuana after an investigation on Merrick Road.

Larcenies

A resident of New Hyde Park reported on Sept. 9 that someone stole $700 and a cell phone from her car parked behind 178 Sunrise Highway.

A resident of Oceanside reported on Sept. 12 that his bicycle was stolen from a bike rack near the LIRR station at the intersection of Front Street and N. Park Avenue.

A resident of Rockville Centre reported on Sept. 13 that someone stole an iPad valued at $950 from his 2011 Chevrolet that had been parked at 30 Lenox Road.

Unusual incidents

he principal of South Side High School reported on Sept. 9 that someone had made suspicious telephone calls to the police department reporting an alleged unfounded incident on school grounds.

A resident of Rockville Centre reported on Sept. 9 that someone charged her Apple account for two iPhones valued at $200 and added an additional user on the account without authorization.

Fire

A resident of N. Forest Avenue reported damage to her apartment door lock on Sept. 12. The damage was a result of Rockville Centre Fire Department forcing entry on Sept. 11 to investigate the smell of smoke.

Property damage

A faculty member from Greenhouse Alternative High School at 189 Sunrise Highway reported on Sept. 8 that the entry door, valued at $700, was damaged.

A resident of Rockville Centre reported on Sept. 9 that the driver side window of his 1999 Ford was damaged.

A resident of Baldwin reported on Sept. 10 that the store front window to Rhea Nichols Shoe Store at 30 N. Park Ave. was broken.

Graffiti

A resident of Rockville Centre reported on Sept. 11 that someone had damaged a fence located at Robustello and Sons at 380 N. Long Beach Road with graffiti.

A Rockville Centre resident told police on Sept. 13 that someone had drawn graffiti on his driveway.
