The RVC girls 9-10 year-old Williamsport Team defeated Lynbrook in the district championship softball game, 21-9, to complete a sweep to take home the District 30 title.

Lynbrook jumped out to an early 8-3 lead as RVC pitcher Claire O'Brien struggled in the first few innings. After conferring with coaches Jim O'Brien and Keith Lopez, RVC manager Tom Wagner showed faith in his pitcher and the ability of his team to come back. Wagner huddled with the team between innings and told them they would come back and Claire would find her groove.

In the bottom of the second, RVC unleashed a 16-run inning to go up 19-8. The attack was a combination of timely hitting and patience at the plate. Singles by Nikki Stamile, Anna Shamroth, Erin Dooney, and Maddie Ajello lead the assault. Key walks taken by Kate and Tess Murphy kept the inning alive. The inning was capped by a bases-loaded triple by Nicole Connelly.

Taking the field in the top of the third, all eyes were on O'Brien on the mound. She settled down, found her zone and only gave up one run the rest of the game. Stellar defensive plays were made by Izzy King, Jenna Lopez and Grace Lacava. Tremendous effort by the entire team throughout the tournament, especially catcher Nicole Vonnnoh who worked behind the plate for the majority of the innings in the brutal heat. Leading the charge from the bench where injured players Bella Dell'Amore and Emma Wagner, who constantly kept team sprits high.
