Rockville Centre police target underage drinking

Another arrest was made on Dec. 15 just over the Rockville Centre border in Hempstead at a business that was selling alcohol to a minor.

The arrest is part of an ongoing undercover sting operation jointly conducted by the Hempstead Police Department and Rockville Centre youth officer Det. Michael Norwood, using an underage police agent to attempt alcohol purchases.

Alexandro Mancia, 29, of Remsen Avenue, Hempstead, a clerk at the Metapaneco Deli, 478 South Franklin Street, Hempstead, was arrested and charged with unlawfully dealing with a child and selling alcohol to a minor.

“We are grateful for the cooperation of the Hempstead Police Department in this joint effort,” Rockville Centre Police Commissioner Charles Gennario said. “We will keep targeting these locations just over our border where underage Rockville Centre youths attempt to purchase alcohol.”

Rockville Centre police report the locations of liquor law violation arrests to the State Liquor Authority.
