Rockville Centre seniors enjoy 'Three Cups of Tea' at Molloy

Led by Rockville Centre librarian Ellen Berman, who facilitates a book club at the Sandel Senior Center, a number of the center’s members traveled to Molloy College on Oct. 5 to meet David Oliver Relin, who, with Greg Mortensen, wrote the best seller “Three Cups of Tea: One Man’s Mission to Promote Peace…One School at a Time.”

They participated in an open discussion of the book that recants Mortensen’s journey that led from a failed 1993 attempt to climb the world’s second highest mountain, Pakistan’s K2, to successfully establish schools in some of the most remote regions of Afghanistan and Pakistan, replacing guns with pencils and rhetoric with reading.
