Lt. Brian Beckelman returns after tour of duty in Afghanistan

U.S. Marine Corps 1st Lieutenant Brian Beckelman returned home safely from his seven-month deployment in Afghanistan.

Beckelman is a Logistics Specialist and was appointed Truck Company Commander of Headquarters Service Company. His platoon was actively involved in keeping supply lines open during the invasion of Marjeh in southern Afghanistan. After months of challenging missions, Beckelman and his entire platoon arrived back stateside in August.

  His first stop on U.S. soil was to a local fast food restaurant. He enjoyed a huge hamburger and fries and ended the day with a very long hot shower.

  Lt. Beckelman is a native of Rockville Centre and a 2003 graduate of South Side High School. He holds a B.S. degree from Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. After graduating, he joined the Marine Corps, and received his officer's commission in 2007. Currently a 1st Lieutenant, Beckelman is stationed at Camp LeJeune in North Carolina but will start his newly appointed position as Executive Officer of the U.S. Marine Corps Headquarters Battalion in September.
