Rockville Centre's Hispanic Brotherhood honored by TOH

Margarita Grasing, second from right, the executive director of the Rockville Centre Hispanic Brotherhood who is a resident of Baldwin, received the 2010 Hispanic Heritage Award at the Town of Hempstead’s annual celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month.

Grasing, who was born in Cuba, helped found the Hispanic Brotherhood to assist the fast growing population of immigrants from different Spanish-language cultures. The bilingual, bicultural staff at the agency serves Latino populations in Rockville Centre, Freeport, Oceanside, Lynbrook and Baldwin, providing scholarship programs for young adults, programs for senior citizens, a wide range of resettlement services and an after-school child care program.
