Rockville Centre's Little League players batter up

The Mort Geller developmental division of the Rockville Centre Little League — for its 7-and 8-year olds — hosted its annual All-Star Games and Picnic at the Mort Geller fields on South Park Avenue on June 19. Three games ran concurrently from 9-11 a.m. A brief awards ceremony, with trophies and balloons, and a picnic immediately followed.

Approximately 300 people, including players and their families, coaches and managers, and a number of Little League board members attended. Past Little League President Bob Klein, former board member and Mort Geller Commissioner Ed Byrne, current Little League President Bob Tolan and Mayor Mary Bossart participated in the celebrity hot dog buffet.

Next up for the kids as they “graduate” from the Mort Geller division is play in the Little League’s Minor League next year, where they pitch to each other and games become a little more formal.
