RVC board distributes more than $300k in Community Development funds

The lone action item at the March 15 village board meeting centered on a Community Development Block Grant received by the Rockville Centre Community Development Program.

Anne Cohen, the director of the community development program, asked for the boards’ approval of a $311,00 grant that was applied for and received to help fund community-oriented facilities and organizations during the 2011-12 fiscal year.

“Annie does an excellent job of securing the additional funds as they become available,” said Deputy Mayor Charles Joyce after he and his fellow trustees passed the grant resolution. “It helps the village maintain these facilities.” Trustee David Krasula echoed Joyce’s sentiments, saying, “Cohen has done an outstanding job and is one of the unheralded workers in this village.”
